I’ve always liked the Film Noir aesthetic.
Drawing
Struggling
I have a million things I need to draw but I haven’t been super motivated for the last couple of weeks.
Environment Practice: Balcony in Vieste, Puglia
Our man (and the potential protagonist for my first adventure game) taking a break on a balcony that looks very much like the one we have here in Veste, Italy.
Environment Practice: Honesty Bar at Masseria il Frantoio
We recently visited Masseria il Frantoio again (the link details our first visit) and this time we got to stay for two nights.
Out in the garden, by the olive trees, there is this cute little shed that serves as an honesty bar, where you can grab whatever drinks and snacks you want and just note it down.
Environment Practice: Chiesa di San Sebastiano
Our man in front of the Chiesa di San Sebastiano in Lecce, Italy.
Environment Practice: Piazza Castromediano Sigismondo
Environment Practice: Lecce, Italy
Adventure games have a lot of environments and drawing them is not my strongest area. We’re currently in Italy so for the last few days I’ve been heading out to cafes to sit with a caffé (or a vino bianco) and practice.
This piece started out as a sketch of a possible protagonist and I just shoved a side of Lecce’s centre square underneath him.
More Concept Sketches
This time with some UI elements to make it feel a little more like I’m making progress.
Sketching Locations: Petrol Station
Now that I’m starting to get into designing an adventure game, it’s time to come up with some concepts! How about an adventure set at a rural gas station late at night when it’s raining?
Go Erin!
Erin ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday in an impressive 1 hour and 56 minutes! I am so proud of her!
Here’s the sign I made so she could see us during the run (I can’t tell you how many times I did a two-finger tap on the page to try and undo a mistake—thanks Procreate! 😂).
