Comments

  • Branching out into a medium strength variation because after watching Dune Part 2 yesterday I feel like I also want to be an adventurer
  • Finer grind because I know what these beans are made of and they can handle it
  • Happy with the clear time given there was an additional pour in there

Tasting Notes

Nose: Orange juice and buttered toast it’s a breakfast tray and there’s also a single rose in a vase and the morning’s papers in there too.

First taste: Wowser that extra pour is huge. We are definitely in pink grapefruit territory and it is wild how much difference that second strength pour has made to these beans.

Second taste: I made it my mission to eliminate bitterness from my mugs even though I freaking love grapefruit.

Sometimes we self-sabotage and we don’t even realise we’re doing it. It’s only when we step out of our usual patterns do we see the limitations we were putting on ourselves. Today’s coffee is a humbling reminder that to taste what I’ve never tasted before, I’ve got to brew what I’ve never brewed before.

Rating

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

A whole new flavour profile from what were already outstanding beans. My light and delicious plums have vanished but in their place is this robust but incredibly balanced mug.

Unchanged Settings

  • Pre-grind anti-static water: 3 drops in with the beans
  • Water temperature: 88°
  • Hario V60 01 brown filter
  • Funnel warming water: 400ml @ 88°
  • Water hardness: medium (calcium carbonate 100–200ppm)

What the heck is this?
